Passage: Genesis 12:1-9 KJV
Title: A Blessing for all Nations
The book of Genesis is defined as:
gen·e·sis [ jénnəssiss ]   Audio player
1.     beginning: the time or circumstances of something's coming into being
Today's lesson we see the beginning, the genesis, of God's promise to Abram, and to the future nation to be called Israel.

God Chose Abram for a number of reasons for the blessing to follow. One Key reason is obedience.

Genesis 12:1
King James Version (KJV)
Genesis 12
1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Abram had love for his family and kinfolks. Nevertheless when God told him to do something. He had faith in God. He knew God would provide for him if he left his country and from his kindred to journey to a foreign land. Many people today ask to hear from God but if that person hears from God, would they be willing to do with God says?

Genesis 12:2
King James Version (KJV)
2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Because of Abram's obedience, all of God's promise came to fruition just as God said.
Finally, after walking some 500 odd miles, Abram arrived at the location God promised him. Moreover, he pitched a tent and built and altar.

Genesis 12:8
King James Version (KJV)
8And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

It is important to realize that Abram is thanking God. Before God has even deliver on all his promise. Abram has exhibited amazing faith that we should all strive to attain.
