Lesson Scripture: Galatians 3:15-18; 4:1-7
Topic: Heirs to the Promise
- The Example
- verses 3:15-16
- Paul gives a simple example to explain the law and the promise of God. Here Paul says that Abraham made a promise with God and that no one can change that.
- The Promise was Jesus Christ.
- Our Heritage Explained
- verses 3:17-18
- Paul continues his explanation by pointing out that the law came after the promise and thus it can not change the promise.
- Our Heritage Preserved
- Verses 4:1-3
- Paul begins the 4th chapter with an allegory. Here he uses the example of a child who is an heir and how they have to follow the rules of their guardians until they come of age.
- Family History Beyond this World
- Verses 4:4-7
- Paul finishes his allegory by connecting the arrival of Jesus Christ with the child who comes of age. Now the child can fully experience his inheritance. Jesus Christ came lived under the law and redeemed us by dying on the cross for you and I. Because of that we now have the holy ghost in our life and we are counted as one of the children of God. No longer a slave. See how plain that is. If you become a child of God it says right here Through Christ we have become heirs unto God. We have an inheritance.
