Return to Obedience
In this lesson the children of Israel begin to cry unto the Lord for help. The Lord reminds them of how he constantly helps them out of their mess, and how they quickly forget about him and return to sin.... Doing just what they want to do in life. God then warns them, why don't you go cry to the foreign gods that you worship. The Israelites may have been living in sin, but they knew a foreign God could not help them. Just as we may want to spend our Sunday mowing lawns and cleaning cars, we with a reason of doubt know that a house, car, or lawn cannot help us in any way. It was only when the Israelites put away their foreign gods that God returned and delivered them a judge to free them from bondage. Jephthah will succeed Gideon and prosperity will exists again. God is so good.Point to remember: Do not be quick to forget God’s blessings and stray into lower standards.
